Artistic Identity

Svetlin’s work stands apart through its technical precision, simplicity and otherworldly minimalist vision. He creates intricate, sometimes dystopian and poetic contemporary dance projects that transforms familiar movement into something alien yet deeply resonant. These performances blend cold sci-fi aesthetics with emotional depth, challenging audiences to see beyond ordinary limits.

Creative Definition

Combining elements from abstraction, geometry , fashion, soundscapes, expressionism, street wisdom and urban art influences to build pictures that are rich in emotional depth. A closeup choreographies using visual metaphors – like ethereal beings or figurative objects – alongside inspiration sources from analytical literature writings, to explore what it means to be vulnerable, yet resilient, amidst periods of ones personal and global turmoil. Elsewhere, other concepts examine the intrinsic connections between people, deeds and their surroundings. All of this is executed through a distinct visual style. MNFST consistently tries pushing the boundaries of dance genre, drawing the viewer in via symbolism, mystery, clarity and detail.

Unique Position in the Dutch Contemporary Dance Landscape

What separates our work from other Dutch dance companies is the clear-cut technical-abstract approach that is very recognizible. While many Dutch choreographers focus on literal narratives or traditional techniques, we prioritise movement innovation that transcends cultural references. The sci-fi influenced dreamlike visual language and movement vocabulary creates a universal experience that speaks across backgrounds. This approach fills a gap in the Dutch contemporary dance scene, which has strong traditions in modern and classical-influenced work. MNFST performances offer audiences an alternative: technically rigorous choreography that creates emotional impact through spellbinding imagery rather than explicit storytelling.
